Imperial cities & South of Morocco tour

Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat.

Upon your arrival in Casablanca you will be greeted by your guide who will accompany you throughout your stay in Morocco. Your tour begins with a visit to Casablanca, the economic capital and the largest city of the kingdom. You will visit the United Nations square, the Anfa district, the district of Habous, Mohamed V square, the beautiful Corniche Ain Diab and the fabulous Hassan II Mosque which is one of the largest mosques in the world (the guided tour of the mosque Hassan II costs $15). Then going to the administrative capital Rabat. A visit to the city includes Oudayas Kasbah, the necropolis of Challah, the Méchouar of the Royal Palace, the Mohamed V Mausoleum and the Hassan Tower. Dinner and accommodation in a riad or hotel.

 

Day 2: Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fez.

After breakfast departure to Meknes, the city was founded by Moulay Ismail. You will see the famous gates of Bab Mansour and Bab Elkhmiss the large water reservoir Swani, the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum and Place El Hedim before going to see Roman ruins in Volubilis which are well preserved and will amaze you with their precious mosaics. You then continue to Fez. Dinner and accommodation in a riad or hotel.

 

Day 3: Fez

You will spend the entire day exploring the charming city of Fez in the company of a local guide. Fez is the religious and spiritual capital and the oldest of the imperial cities in Morocco. The program of the day will include the Alquaraouiyin visit which is the first university founded in the world, Mederssa Attarine, Mederssa Bouinania, the magnificent fountain Nejjarine, the royal palace entry, the Jewish Quarter “Mellah” where you will see the rich heritage of the Jews of Morocco that dates back several centuries, the walls of the Medina with the beautiful door Boujeloud, tombs of Merinids, tanneries, the famous souks always animated and finally you will enjoy a panoramic view overlooking the entire city and its surroundings. Dinner and accommodation in a riad or hotel.

 

Day 4: Fez – Ifrane – Errachidia – Erfoud – Merzouga.

From Fez in the direction of the desert through the Middle Atlas. You will go through the cedar forests and lakes surrounding the small town of Ifrane also known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” with its ski resort and nature that resemble that of Switzerland. After passing through Errachidia and Erfoud you will come to Merzouga, this is where you will ride camels back and then heading to the bivouac situated in the heart of the desert between high sand dunes. After two hours you’ll get there. You will see a beautiful sunset on the very high sand dunes. The dinner will be accompanied by music and singing of nomads who dance around a burning fire in the camp. Spend the night in a tent at the foot of the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Your experience in the desert is exceptional and will be unforgettable for you.

 

Day 5: The Todra Gorge – Tinghir – Boumalen Dades – Kalaat Magouna – Ouarzazate.

In the morning you will see a great sunrise and you will have your breakfast then you will return by camel to Erfoud to recover the vehicle and continue the tour. You will continue to Boumalen Dades via Rissani and Tinghir. Beautiful landscapes, oases and palm groves to see on the road before reaching the Dades Gorges and those of Todra. Your next step will be the city of Ouarzazate that you will join by passing a lot of kasbah on the road and the Roses valley. On the road you will see the beautiful palm grove of Skoura and impressive landscapes. Dinner and accommodation in a riad or hotel in Ouarzazate.

 

Day 6: Ouarzazate.

You begin your day after breakfast with a visit to the Taourirt Kasbah. It was a residence of Bacha Glaoui, you will also visit the Tifoultoute kasbah, cinematographic studios and the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. The Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou has been designated a world heritage site by UNESCO and was the location of turning several filmes that knew a great success such as “Gladiator” and “Lawrence of Arabia”. Dinner and overnight in the same hotel or Riad in Ouarzazate.

 

Day 7: Ouarzazate – Taroudant.

In the morning after breakfast you will head to a beautiful little town in southern Morocco which still retains its originality,it is the city of Taroudant. You will have a stop in Taliouine, a village famous in the world for its production of saffron. Then you will continue to Taroudant which was the capital of the Saadian and known as the “Little Marrakech”. You will visit the souks that expose many crafts: Wrought iron, carpets, leather, pottery, spices and jewelery. You also will have a tour around the walls that extend for several kilometers and have several gates. The warm welcome of the inhabitants of Taroudant who are in the majority of Berbers will be felt in a glass of mint tea which will be served on your arrival as a welcome sign. Very beautiful moments await you. Dinner and accommodation in a riad or hotel in Taroudant.

 

Day 8: Taroudant – Agadir – Essaouira.

You will leave Taroudant after breakfast to go to Essaouira via Agadir. Agadir is a perfect seaside town in Morocco and a paradise for tourists in search of good weather, to relax on the fine sands of its beautiful beaches, to take an excursion by boat to the Atlantic ocean from Marina Agadir or to play your favourite sport such as the Jet Ski or swimming. In Agadir you will go for a tour in the new city, the Corniche and you will visit the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella before continuing to Essaouira. Beautiful landscapes marked by the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean and the argan trees forest. Dinner and accommodation in a riad or hotel in Essaouira.

 

Day 9: Essaouira – Marrakech.

Arriving in Essaouira you will visit the port of Skala, the Medina and the Jewish Quarter “Mellah” and some other well known places before to leave towards Marrakech. On the road you will have the opportunity to see the goats climb the trees to eat the fruit and leaves. You will have a stop in a cooperative of argan oil production and see how women in the region are extracting this oil that is producted only in Morocco. Arrival in Marrakech, dinner and accommodation in a riad or hotel.

 

Day 10: Marrakech

A whole day is devoted to visiting the many monuments of Marrakech with a local guide. The tour includes: Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia mosque, the Saadian tombs, the Jewish Quarter “Mellah”, the Menara gardens, the Majorelle Gardens, the souks containing various works of crafts, leather goods, carpets, spices, fabrics and jewelry. In the evening you will have a walk in Jamaa Elfna which is designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, where you will enjoy a unique ambience. An optional evening with dinner at Ali Fantasia. Accommodation in the same hotel or Riad.

 

Day 11: Marrakech – Casablanca.

Free morning to relax or to do shopping then leaving Marrakech towards Casablanca. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Casablanca.

 

Day 12: Departure from Casablanca airport.

Transfer to Mohamed V airport in Casablanca and assistance in procedures before departure. End of service.

This tour may undergo changes depending on the airport of arrival and departure (Casablanca, Marrakech and Agadir).
