Ourika Valley excursion

The Ourika Valley offers one of the most beautiful nature scenes in the Marrakech region and attracts many people looking for a change of scenery in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains with a cool air away from the noise of the city.

The Ourika Valley is about thirty kilometers from the city of Marrakech. The water of this valley flows all year long from the snowy peaks of the surrounding mountains and irrigates orchards and fields on its both sides giving a green and spectacular nature.

 

On the way you will see many Berber villages clinging to the Mountain , you will have a breakfast with a Berber family to taste 100% natural products: Olive oil, Argan oil, honey, natural butter, bread cooked in a traditional method and the mint tea so that you discover the modest lifestyle of the residents of this region. If your visit to the Ourika coincides with a Monday you will be able to visit the Souk Tnin Ourika held every Monday where the locals buy goods they need throughout the week including vegetables, meat, clothes … etc. On the side of the road you will notice some camels and craft items exhibited for tourists.

At the end of the road we will reach Setti Fatma, a beautiful place that is the starting point for several hikes in particular the discovery of the 7 waterfalls. A lot of traditional restaurants 45.jpgoffering delicious Berber Tagine are installed all along the river of Setti Fatma and there are even a few which had put tables in the middle of the river to enjoy a Tagine while having feet in water.

 

On this tour you will discover also the saffron field of Ourika which has the particularity of producing saffron. The visit of this beautiful place is more interesting in late October to mid-November the period of harvesting this spice. The visit of the aromatic organic garden is also a must. This unique garden allows you to see the aromatic and medicinal plants and their extracts with explanations about how they are used primarily in both health and beauty domains. This excursion takes one day with an English speaking driver / guide.
